Bow River Report
Date: April 27, 2025
Water Level and Clarity: Water is clear and levels are low.
Water Temps: Cold.
Fishing Overview: The Bow is fishing well, and producing a lot of big fish. You'll still be finding the bulk of fish in winter water, and some fish venturing into spring lies (shallower). Majority of fish will be browns and they've been pretty aggressive with rainbows spawning. Rainbows can still be found in the mainstem, be cautious of redds and avoid walking in any light colored oval patches.
BWOs are out some dry fly opportunities for those who have been patients, majority of fish are on streamers or nymphs.
Skwalas on the lower stretch of the river, but we don't typically see those in or near town. This means you could fish a dry dropper.
Flies to try: Parachute BWO, BWO Killer, Double Stack Chubby Chernobyl (Black/Skwala), Drunk & Disorderly, Squirrel Leech, Hot Head TB PT Nymph, Kreelex Minnow

Stillwater Report
Date: April 23, 2025
Last week a few of the shop staff headed to Southern Alberta to check out some stillwater fishing.
Clarity: Generally, the water was pretty clear. As we know, Southern Alberta can be pretty windy so don't be surprised that if the forecast calls for high winds, some of those lakes may turn over and cause the water to get dirty.
Water Temps: Water is cold but warming up in the shallows for all the lakes that have ice off.
Fishing Overview: Classic ice off and spring lake fishing is in the air. Fish are cruising and tailing around the shallows feeding on minnows. Daphnia, boatmen, and chironomids are abundant trout snacks. Strip slow or fish with indicators and if the fish are happy, you'll have an awesome day on the water.
Flies to try: Blobs, Tequila Boobies, Bruised Leech, Rio's Hangin' with my Chromies, Balanced Baitfish, Squirrel Leech
