Kiritimati, often called Christmas Island or CXI, is a 365-days a year flats fishery. Known for it's abundance of bone fish, Christmas Island also is home to numerous salt water species as the entire island is a wildlife sanctuary.

Being so close to the equator, Christmas Island has very little fluctuation to it's temperatures. Their year-round temperature averages around 28 degrees celsius, which means there is no "off season". Bright sunny days, crystal clear water, and white sand flats in this unique atoll make for the perfect formula for fly fishing in paradise.

Primary Species

Bone Fish

The Bone Fish at Christmas Island are the stars of the show with the large number of these grey ghost fish of the flats. The average sized bonefish is a 2-3 pounds and during the course of the week it is not unheard of for guests to land a fish or two in the 7 pound range. Happy tailing bonefish can be found in singles and doubles, all the way up to big schools.

There are other in-shore opportunities to catch trigger fish, trevally, and milkfish.
