Red Deer River Float Trip

The Red Deer River is another tail water fishery that has benefited from bottom-fed constant flows from a reservoir, in this case those of the Dickson Dam. The Red Deer is a smaller intimate float compared to that of the mighty Bow, but don’t let the size of this river fool you; it holds big fish. The large browns that call the Red Deer home can be as challenging and as elusive as any trout you will pursue.  You fish the Red Deer river when you want a challenge and when hunting one big fish is of more importance to you then catching a handful of smaller accommodating fish.  The Red Deer river is about the quality of brown trout, not the quantity.  If numbers is your game this isn’t the river for you, however if finding stalking and casting dries to big elusive browns gets you fired up then you might just be due for a trip to the Red Deer river.

The often prolific hatches of the Red Deer River offer fishermen the opportunity to cast dry flies to these large and elusive brown trout on a pristine river system that looks like it should be in the heart of our Rocky Mountains. Join us for an unforgettable Red Deer River float trip.
