Luka Mesic grew up on the west coast of Vancouver Island and was on a fishing boat from infancy. He moved to Calgary in 2013 and took up fly fishing three years ago. Two years ago, he caught his first Bow River fish on the fly.

He first came to Out Fly Fishing as a customer, regularly joining Thursday night fly-tying sessions and even helping out with shop renovations. Over time, he became part of the fly shop staff, joined hosted trips, and fully immersed himself in the fly fishing community. These days, he spends his time off on the Bow River with his trusty Water Master Bruin, chucking streamers to banks with his pals. He has a passion for swinging flies for bull trout in the Kootenays, chasing pike in shallow water, and streamer fishing for brown trout.
