After years of requests we finally launched a Fly Fishing Guide Training School in 2018. The name West Winds was chosen to honor the tradition and hostory of the shop before it was purchased and the name was changed in 2015. We never advertised the Guide Training School in 2018 as it filled up just from individual requests. This year we are opening registration to the school, although we once again have very limited spots for the school as it was over half full even before we made the announcement.
If you've ever been interested in becoming a fly fishing guide this is your chance to have experienced instructors and guides walk you through the ins and outs of the industry, cover the faux pas of our local industry as well as best practices. One of the most common complaints we hear from local guides is no one is willing to assist new guide development or explain expectations and obligations of both guides and outfitters or shops.
