Date: October 31, 2024
Water Level and Clarity: Levels are slightly above average for this time of year, and dirty.
Water Temps: Cold.
Fishing Overview: Most fish have moved to their winter water. Due to the overnight frosts you won't see any more grasshoppers flying. Nymphing has been the best method but catching them on streamers are possible.
Special Considerations: Brown trout may still be found spawning on redds so please try your best to leave them be! What do redds look like?

Photo from Calgary River Valley
Oval shaped clear/light bare patches of gravel where the fish have polished the algae off the rock. Typically found in shallow fast runs with high oxygen or areas tight to overhanging banks with some cover and protection for the fish. The redds are oriented with the current so the longest distance in the oval shape is the same direction of the current.
