Our First Youth Ambassador
Ryden Aoki
Welcome to Our Youth Ambassador Series
We're excited to kick off a new series featuring one of the most impressive young anglers we've had the privilege of watching grow over the years. From his first days on the river to becoming a confident and accomplished angler, his passion, dedication, and love for fly fishing have been incredible to witness. Follow along as we share his journey, memorable days on the water, trophy catches, and the lessons learned along the way. We hope his story inspires the next generation of anglers to get outside, explore wild places, and discover the lifelong rewards that fly fishing has to offer.
Born in Calgary, Alberta, Ryden Aoki has been hooked on fly fishing since the age of two. Now just 11 years old, Ryden has already fished in four countries and landed an incredible 71 different species.
With a passion for adventure, an impressive growing list of catches, and a love for the sport that knows no bounds, Ryden is proving that age is no limit when it comes to chasing fish and making memories. The sky is the limit for this incredible young angler — and we can’t wait to see where the journey takes him.
I sure wouldn’t. I’ve been fly fishing since I was two years old. My name is Ryden. I am the new youth ambassador for Out Fly Fishing. I’ll be sharing a few fishing tales every month. A few days ago, I went to Eels Creek in Central Ontario. I fly fished for a fish called a Fall fish. They are a shiny silver fish. They are actually one of if not the biggest member of the minnow family. They are very aggressive and feisty. Remember, it’s not always about the size or the length of the fish, it’s about the experience and joy you take out of it. I hope you enjoy following along!
