Thank You to all the First Responders and Healthcare Workers: Nominate a 1st Responder for a Fly Fishing Care Package

Calgarys Fly Shop Would Like to Thank All Health Care Workers

We wanted to say THANK YOU to all the first responders and healthcare providers who are tirelessly working to keep all of us safe and healthy. They’re showing their strength when so many are weak, sick and in need of their care and sacrifices. We’re launching an additional campaign to express our gratitude to first responders and healthcare workers called our #stayHARDYmyfriends campaign. We’re asking all of you to help us by nominating a first responder that has been working long hours and putting the health and safety of patients and the public over their own. There’s no shortage of those individuals right now so let’s remember to remind them how grateful we are for their work and sacrifices and hopefully put a smile on their face with a fly fishing care package. With the help of @welovehardyflyfishing we’ll be sending one nominee, each week, a fly fishing care package to help lift their spirits and show our gratitude and appreciation. If you’d like to nominate a first responder or healthcare works publicly you can make an Instagram post and hashtag #stayHARDYmyfriends and then tag us and @welovehardyflyfishing in it

If you’d prefer to nominate someone privately then you can send a DM to @welovehardyflyfishing or send us an email with your 100 word or less nomination. Feel free to share with friends and to nominate more than one person as well.

WEEK #4 Winner: Lucia Pfeuti

Lucia who is an operating room nurse, and more specifically a Nurse Educator in the O.R. at the Foothills Hospital. The first 4 weeks of the Pandemic, and the beginning of the shutdown, Lucia worked long hours, and most days did not take a regular lunch break. As well, she had holidays booked,  Lucia cancelled her holidays so that she could be at the hospital to help out and use her expertise in developing a plan for Covid 19.   During this time, another educator and herself were responsible for utilizing the Alberta Health guidelines for dealing with Covid 19, and coming up with policies that would be specific for the Foothills Hospital Operating Rooms. Also, since it was thought that the ICU would be hit the hardest by the virus, they had to remove all equipment from an entire floor of OR’s, as this would be used as additional ICU beds.  Even though elective surgeries were being cancelled, emergency cases were not. We're very please to honor Lucia with a #stayHARDYmyfriends care package.
 

WEEK #3 Winner: Bryan Williams

Bryan is a Paramedic in Ontario that has been working long hours and looking out for some of the safety of the weakest and most vulnerable members of our society.  Bryan is an extremely kind and generous man that has done so many generous acts for friends and even near strangers.  He's an incredible fly tier, angler, hunter and outdoorsman, but most importantly husband and father.  Bryan received multiple nominations and We're very excited to be able to honor him with one of our #stayHARDYmyfriends care packages.

WEEK #2 Winner: Jason Yardley

Jason has been working as a firefighter with the Calgary Fire Department for the last 3 years after serving in the Canadian Armed Forces for 25 years prior (serving in Kosovo, Bosnia and Afghanistan). He has been serving and keeping our community and country safe for a very long time.  Jason has started to pick up fly fishing again and is looking forward using it as a stress relief this summer - he would love a Hardy care package! This nomination comes from his wife and 6 year old daughter.

Well we're very happy to announce that Jason's nomination was selected as this weeks winner of our #stayHARDYmyfriends care package.

Week 1 Winner: Martha Jakubiec

 

OFF Fly Shop's Thank you to all Healthcare workers

We’re very excited to announce the first winner of the #stayHARDYmyfriends care package and that’s Martha J! Martha works at the Children’s Hospital and she and her husband Pat have a son Reese (AKA Reeseosaurus Rex 🦖) who’s their little fishing buddy. They didn’t want Reese in harms way with her going in and out of the hospital everyday so Reese is staying with his Aunt and cousins. Can’t imagine how hard it must be for parents being away from their own kids and knowing they’re doing so to look after our sick members of society is something we should all be grateful for.
